About the role
The role supports the Eastern Health Senior Pharmacist - Formulary & Medicines Strategy in the development and implementation of Eastern Health’s medicines formulary and medicines strategy to support safe, effective, equitable and financially sustainable access to medicines. The role acts as 2IC and supports the coordination and delivery of key portfolio activities.
The role supports formulary activities, medicines evaluation and utilisation, medicines access and supply initiatives, and opportunities to improve value from medicines expenditure. This includes supporting formulary decisions, addressing medicine shortages and alternatives, monitoring medicine use and expenditure, coordinating medicines access programs and implementing initiatives to improve medicines use across Eastern Health.
The role works collaboratively with pharmacy leaders, clinical services, procurement and other stakeholders, and may take delegated responsibility for specific projects and operational activities within the portfolio.
What you’ll bring
Key selection criteria specific to the role:

Registered or eligible for registration as a Pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Understanding of National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and relevant accreditation standards

High-level communication, written and verbal, with demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills when working with consumers, their families and health care professionals

Demonstrated commitment to optimum patient-focused care, medication safety and professional practice

Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure, meet time constraints, determine work priorities and maintain a high level of organisational skills

Demonstrated leadership, negotiation, critical thinking and decision-making skills

Demonstrated ability to contribute to and implement change and quality improvement activities in complex healthcare environments

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, build effective relationships and work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders

Commitment to participate in personal and departmental ongoing professional development, continuing education and peer review, including presentation at an AdPha or equivalent conference

Proficient computer and data management skills, including intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
