About the role
This unique opportunity will be responsible for the physiotherapy management of the acute cardiorespiratory and high acuity patients including ICU with the support of clinical Grade 3 Cardiorespiratory/ICU Physiotherapists. This role is rotational across Eastern Health main acute sites and incorporates occasional weekend shifts to further provide a wide breadth of growth opportunities. As the right person for this role, you will apply your commitment to the Eastern Health values through skilled caseload management; supporting Physiotherapy services across Eastern Health to dynamically respond to workload demands and supporting the development of Grade 1 Physiotherapists, AHA’s and undergraduate students to develop clinical skills within the area of acute cardiorespiratory physiotherapy.
You will be a dynamic, enthusiastic team player within the multi-disciplinary team and Eastern Health Physiotherapy, actively seeking to collaborate with others to improve outcomes & experiences for your patients. You will actively seek to support and partner with relevant service improvement and research being undertaken by Grade 3 and Grade 4 Clinical Leads within Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy. As the successful applicant, you will be robustly supported in your ongoing development through regular supervision with our Grade 3 Cardiorespiratory/ICU Physiotherapists and working with your acute and cardiorespiratory team mates locally and across our network via the Cardiorespiratory Clinical Leadership Committee, led by our Grade 4 Physiotherapy Clinical Lead – Cardiorespiratory.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
Essential:
- Recognised tertiary qualification in Physiotherapy
- Current registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia
- Eligibility for practicing membership of the Australian Physiotherapy Association
- Advanced clinical skills in managing a complex caseload and comprehensive discharge planning using a client-centered approach
- Broad clinical experience encompassing diverse patient presentation.
- Previous clinical experience working in cardiorespiratory and ICU physiotherapy.
- High-level communication skills, both written and oral.
- Demonstrated capacity to work/show leadership in a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in supervision of staff and/or students.
- Demonstrated ability to introduce the innovative practice.
- Commitment to improving own practice and undertaking quality and research activities.
- Demonstrated understanding of professional codes of conduct.
Desirable:
- Participation in work practice coordination and review
- Experience in conflict resolution
- Working towards post graduate qualification would be highly regarded.
- Member, Australian Physiotherapy Association with current involvement in relevant special interest groups
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
