Eastern Health Physiotherapy is one of the largest Physiotherapy teams in Victoria, with over 240 Physiotherapists and another 40+ Allied Health Assistants working across the full continuum of care, from ED through to a wide variety of acute and sub-acute inpatient services to a large suite of ambulatory post-acute, primary and preventative health services and Residential Aged Care Services. Eastern Health Physiotherapy is also excited to be rapidly expanding our services and practices within our large mental health and wellbeing program.

 

About the role

 

This is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of an incredibly passionate and inspiring team within our Residential Aged Care service based at Murrenda, Wantirna Health. The work they do and how they deliver care to our residents is the embodiment of person-centred care, where each resident is cared for with great respect and dignity. The successful applicant will be empowered to broaden their clinical experience and learn from an expert team with a wealth of knowledge. Skills gained from this opportunity are valuable and would beneficially translate into other clinical settings. You will work closely with the Allied Health and broader multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, person-centred physiotherapy services. This role supports older adults with diverse and complex needs, including those living with cognitive changes, in alignment with the Aged Care Quality Standards.

 

  • Enjoy onsite support from a Grade 3 Physiotherapist and access to senior clinical leads.
  • Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team that prioritises respectful, inclusive, and holistic care.

To be successful in this role you will possess:

You will:

  • Deliver tailored interventions that promote mobility, independence, and wellbeing.
  • Foster respectful relationships with residents, families, and staff.
  • Support dignity of risk and shared decision-making in care planning.
  • Participate in supervision and mentoring of Allied Health Assistants and students.
  • Engage in service development, quality improvement, and professional learning.

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Clinical experience in supporting older adults, including those living with dementia.
  • Strong understanding of ageing, frailty, and person-centred care principles.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in supervision and mentoring.

Desirable:

  • Experience in Residential Aged Care settings.
  • Familiarity with the Aged Care Quality Standards and their application in practice.
  • Experience supporting individuals with cognitive impairment or responsive behaviours.
  • Membership with the Australian Physiotherapy Association or relevant professional bodies.

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
