Physiotherapist – Emergency and Acute Complex Medicine (Box Hill Hospital)

Part time: 17 hours per week, over 3 days (days/ hours negotiable, but preferable including a Monday and/ or Friday)

Location: Box Hill Hospital | Emergency Department | Complex Acute Medicine (acute in-patient medical wards)

Fixed term: Until 3rd February 2026
About the role
-
Active engagement in an ever-evolving area of Physiotherapy where you can make an impact on service delivery and patient flow through the hospital system.
-
A varied and interesting caseload, with close collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) for discharge planning of patients with often complex health and social situations.

Supervision and teaching of designated Grade 1 staff, Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) and undergraduate physiotherapy students.

Engagement in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development are strongly encouraged and facilitated throughout by clinical support and supervision from the Grade 3 and 4 Aged and Complex Care Physiotherapy staff.
About you
To be successful in this role you should possess:

Current registration with AHPRA
-
Eligibility for practicing membership of the APA
-
Advanced clinical skills in managing a complex caseload using a client-centred approach.
-
Experience across the key area acute medical, aged and complex care physiotherapy.
-
High level communication skills, both written and oral.
-
Demonstrated capacity to work / show leadership in a multidisciplinary team.
-
Experience in supervision of staff and students.
-
Commitment to improving own practice and undertaking quality activities.
-
Demonstrated ability to plan and manage a varied caseload with sound computer skills.
-
Engagement with own and others well-being.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
