Eastern Health

Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.

Our Employee Value Proposition is “Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts”.

This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.

About the role

Are you a motivated, adaptable individual looking for a new challenge in a growing area of healthcare administration?

An exciting opportunity exists for an organised and forward-thinking person to join our Privacy team in a newly created Privacy Administration Officer role. This position has been established to support the increasing volume of privacy-related activity across Eastern Health, including privacy enquiries, complaints, My Health Record and CareSync Exchange queries, Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) administration, audit support and privacy education.

This is a substantive operational role that takes day-to-day ownership of the Privacy team's administrative systems, working in close collaboration with the Operations Manager, Information Release and the Associate Program Director - Health Record Service and Privacy / Chief Privacy Officer. The role triages and responds directly to routine matters within established procedures and delegated authority, escalating complex matters to a Privacy Officer.

As this is a new position, training will be provided. We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, grow into the role, and help shape it as our privacy function evolves.

About you

We are looking for someone who is adaptable, motivated and ready to give things a go. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the confidence to work independently within established procedures, while knowing when to seek guidance or escalate. You'll need strong attention to detail, the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment, and the resilience to work with sensitive and sometimes confronting information.

You will bring:

  • A positive, solutions-focused approach and willingness to embrace change in a growing area
  • Proven administrative or coordination experience, ideally in a complex healthcare, privacy, FOI, health information, risk or quality environment
  • Sound judgement and the ability to balance independence with knowing when to escalate
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to liaise respectfully with patients, staff and stakeholders on sensitive matters
  • A high level of professionalism, discretion and personal resilience

Desirable:

Previous experience supporting privacy, FOI, release of information, health information, quality, risk, audit or complaints processes is desirable but not essential. Training and support will be provided to the right candidate.

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
