About the role
An exciting opportunity has developed for a Senior Neonatal Paediatric Physiotherapist to join the paediatric physiotherapy team at Eastern Health. This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity, commencing April 2026 and concluding April 2027.
The Senior Neonatal Paediatric Physiotherapist will serve as a role model, showcasing advanced expertise and skills. This position involves leading and mentoring both individuals and teams, while undertaking current evidence-based practice, clinical skills, and knowledge in neonatal and paediatric physiotherapy practice.
Eastern Health paediatric physiotherapy services are offered at Angliss and Box Hill Hospital sites, providing service to the outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Referrals come from within Eastern Health, other tertiary hospitals, local paediatricians, and maternal and child health nurses. This role involves hands-on clinical practice and contributing to the development of collaborative services in both neonatal and paediatric physiotherapy.
- Neonatal: Neurodevelopmental assessment, management, and care for pre-term infants, to align with best practice guidelines in both the inpatient (Special Care Nursery SCN), and outpatient settings

This role involves collaboration with Eastern Health’s multidisciplinary teams, including the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (VPRS) and the Paediatric Community Health hub. The paediatric physiotherapy team is well supported within the wider organisational physiotherapy and allied health team frameworks at EH. This position will enable you to further develop your paediatric physiotherapy skills to deliver safe, effective, evidence-based, and culturally safe care for children and families in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
The successful applicant will have access to supports including:
- On commencement, weekly mentorship and opportunities for direct supervision from an experienced paediatric physiotherapist,
- Engagement in regular paediatric physiotherapy team meetings and digital workplace connection
- Assistance to clearly define individual scope of practice, and strategies to work with your identified areas for practice development
- Case-based access to additional experienced paediatric physiotherapists through tertiary paediatric hospital sites
