About the role
As part of the Clinical Services Realignment, we have an exciting new opportunity for a grade 5 Social Worker, based at the Angliss Hosptial!
The Social Work/Acute Medicine Allied Health Manager at Eastern Health plays a pivotal role in supporting and optimising clinical teams and services by upholding, enabling, and advancing standards of practice and workforce strategies across Social Work and for allied health professionals, assistants, and administrative staff within the Acute Medicine program.
Working in close partnership with the allocated Program DDO (Allied Health) and the Director of Social Work, the Manager leads and coordinates professional, clinical, and operational governance priorities. They contribute to broader program, professional, and organisational strategies that align with Eastern Health’s commitment to “Healthier Together,” the 2024–2026 Allied Health Directions Plan, and the Eastern Health Strategic Plan.
The Manager represents both the program and profession across a range of stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and promoting excellence and innovation throughout the organisation. They are also responsible for driving and enabling safety, quality, and risk management, as well as overseeing financial and activity performance within their areas of accountability.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated effective leadership and change management skills.
- Clinical qualification and registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency or relevant professional registration body.
- Experience in operational management of health professionals and demonstration of contribution to novel workforce models to deliver excellence in health service provision.
- Demonstrated professional and operational management experience in healthcare and multi-disciplinary models of care.
- Clinical experience in leadership of allied health services and knowledge of relevant legislation, policy directions, strategic documents, service issues and funding models – particularly acute and sub-acute bed-based and outpatient models.
- Robust understanding of the role and mechanisms of professional governance in patient and staff safety as well as service delivery, service optimisation and workforce modelling.
- Post-graduate qualifications in management or other appropriate field (desirable).
- Demonstrated ability to develop and successfully implement creative solutions to complex systemic and organisational problems.
- Experience in healthcare finance and budget management.
- Experience in health industry workforce and industrial systems.
- Experience in successfully working with health care professionals and senior health service leaders.
- Ability to lead high performing teams and individuals and address underperformance issues as they arise.
- Current driver's licence.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
