About the role
The role of a waitlist validation clerk is to work within a team responsible for ensuring that new patients waiting for Acute Specialist Clinics appointment are managed and validated on a regular basis. Validation ensures that the number of patients waiting is an accurate figure and is part of public accountability and transparency.
Victorian public health services must perform regular administrative and clinical audits of all patients waiting for new and review appointments to validate the list of waiting patients.
Administrative audits involve contacting patients waiting for a new or review appointment to confirm:
- The service is still required (for example, the patient has not already received the service elsewhere)
- The patient’s ability to attend when an appointment becomes available
- The patient’s current contact details and preferred method of communication.
An opportunity exists in Specialist Clinics across all campus for a passionate and enthusiastic clerical staff member. Eastern Health Acute Specialist Clinics are a busy department of the hospital, meeting the needs of patients from the community by providing a range of specialist services.
Clerical staff are a highly regarded member of the multidisciplinary team that ensure Specialist Clinics functions well.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Computer competent in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- Advanced communication skills – both in person, on the telephone skills and clerical skills
- Ability to provide quality customer service in a friendly and professional manner to support high quality patient centred care
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
