Work Health and Safety Improvement Partner

  • Permanent Full Time | 5 weeks’ leave + monthly day off
  • Eastern Health | primarily Box Hill Hospital, with travel across sites as required

About the role

This role provides the opportunity to influence how safety is managed across Eastern Health through practical, organisation-wide improvement. Strengthen risk management, improve systems, and support safer workplaces.

 

The WHS Improvement Partner delivers WHS improvement initiatives across the organisation, working in partnership with stakeholders to implement practical solutions and embed consistent practices.

The role focuses on strengthening systems, processes and tools to support effective risk management across clinical and operational areas, including psychosocial risk, occupational violence and aggression (OVA), and fatigue.

Using data, audit findings and incident trends, the role identifies improvement opportunities, monitors progress, and supports informed decision-making.

You will be part of a collaborative team that partners with clinical and operational leaders to deliver practical, organisation-wide improvements and build a proactive safety culture aligned with Eastern Health’s Healthier Together promise.

 

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Qualification in Work Health and Safety (Certificate IV or higher), or working towards
  • Demonstrated experience delivering or coordinating WHS projects or improvement initiatives
  • Sound understanding of WHS legislation, risk management principles and safety systems
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes
  • Ability to analyse data and translate insights into practical improvements
  • Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and support others
  • Experience working with systems or databases, with a focus on data quality and reporting
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and commitment to continuous improvement
  • Current driver’s licence

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offerred and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offerred and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
