About the role 

The Health Promotion Practitioner position is responsible for the planning, evaluation and delivery of primary prevention projects across the Yarra Ranges. The Grade 2 Health Promotion Practitioner reports to the Senior Health Promotion Practitioner and works with small team planning, delivering and evaluating the strategies outlined in Eastern Health’s annual Health Promotion action plan. 

The Grade 2 position also has additional responsibilities such as supervising junior staff members or students as directed and independently managing your own portfolio and working with a broad range of stakeholders and partners both internal to Eastern Health and external.

  

About you  

To be successful in this role you will possess: 

  • A tertiary qualification in Health Promotion, Public Health or another relevant qualification 
  • Advanced skills in the development, implementation and evaluation of health promotion initiatives 
  • Strong understanding of the social model of health, the determinants of health and their impact on communities and populations 
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills 
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
