About the role
Eastern Health maternity services program runs a satellite clinic from Yarra Ranges Health, Lilydale to provide antenatal care to local people booked to birth at Angliss and Box Hill Hospitals. Our Antenatal Clinic Midwives play a vital role in providing comprehensive care, education, and support to women and pregnant people. This includes conducting antenatal assessments, offering evidence-based advice, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure a safe and positive pregnancy experience. The role also focuses on ensuring continuity of care throughout the antenatal period to foster an environment of shared decision-making, working with families to ensure they are informed, empowered, and active participants in their care choices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and support to midwifery staff, graduate midwifery staff and O&G team to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate care.
- Ensure compliance with relevant clinical guidelines, policies, and regulatory standards.
- Facilitate a positive patient experience by promoting best practices in maternity care.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to achieve service goals. Lead quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits through an agreed portfolio.
- Manage staffing levels, resource allocation, and workload distribution effectively
About you
Requirements:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife
- Significant experience in midwifery practice, especially in antenatal care, with previous leadership experience preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and record-keeping skills.
- Alignment with and dedication to Eastern Health Values, ensuring the highest standard of care and patient experience
- A demonstrated commitment to Eastern Health Values and to delivering high-quality evidence based maternity care in a culturally safe environment.
- Completion of Stillbirth Centre of Research Excellence Safer Baby Bundle workshop, within the last 12 months and up to date ilearn.
Desired, but not essential skills
- Sound knowledge of and ability to support clinicians with EMR in the outpatient setting.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
