About Eastern Health
Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.
Our Employee Value Proposition is “Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts”.
This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.
About the role
Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are being established as an integral part of the reform to Victoria’s mental health system consistent with the Final Report Recommendations from the Royal Commission. The Royal Commission called for a transformed system - one that is compassionate, holistic, focused on prevention, promotes wellbeing, and places Lived Experience at the center of leadership and decision-making.
We have an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join the Mental Health and Wellbeing Local Service in Lilydale, servicing the Yarra Ranges.
Operating Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, the service provides free, accessible, high-quality care and support for people aged 26 years and over who are experiencing mental health concerns or psychological distress, including those with co-occurring substance use or addiction. Support is also available for family members, carers, kin, and supporters.
Lived Experience is central to everything at the Local. This ensures participants’ voices are at the forefront of their care. Clinicians work in partnership with the Lived and Living Experience workforce and are guided by participants to understand their unique experiences and contexts - recognising them as the experts in their own lives.
The service is delivered through a consortium of four partners: Wellways, Access Health and Community, Eastern Health, and Oonah. While staff are employed by their respective partner organisations, all team members operate within the Local Service Model and work collaboratively as one integrated team.
Working within the Towards Change team and employed by Eastern Health, the Occupational Therapist will use their knowledge, skills and experience to collaborate meaningfully with participants. The role focuses on developing evidence based, recovery-oriented supports that are shaped and defined by the participant. In this role, you will provide trauma informed and culturally responsive support, recognising the diverse backgrounds and experiences of the community.

To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Qualification as an Occupational Therapist
- AHPRA registration and registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice).
