About the role
You will provide clinical speech pathology services to pre-schoolers and their families at Community Health, Eastern Health, utilising both group and individual therapy models. You will work closely with other speech pathologists, paediatric allied health professionals and allied health assistants to ensure effective training empowers parents/caregivers to become key partners in their child’s speech therapy. Supervision will be provided.
The Grade 3 Speech Pathologist will provide clinical leadership and supervision within the Community Health setting. The incumbent will have effective skills managing people and an ability to initiate connections and develop relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
The Senior Clinician will also be responsible for fostering staff development and student clinical education. The Senior Clinician will also have an understanding of wider organisational and public health influences on the public hospital service and lead ongoing quality improvement and development. This clinician will work with the Team Leader and other senior professionals to guide the operational and professional performance of the team and ensure key performance indicators and targets are achieved.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Recognised tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia including demonstrated evidence of professional development activities equivalent to Certified Practising Speech Pathologist requirements
- A demonstrated capacity to inspire, influence, lead and motivate staff and to contribute to a positive and compassionate organisational culture.
- Demonstrated high level of analytical thinking and investigative skills involving research & quality improvement activities, benchmarking and resource identification, including innovative, service delivery models
- Experience in assessment and delivery of therapy in both group and one to one models for clients with communication difficulties.
- Experience in the assessment and management of patients presenting with Paediatric Feeding Disorder
- Demonstrated capacity to utilise a parent capacity building model
- Strong organisational and time management skills, efficient work practices
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining and applying current clinical knowledge
- Advanced interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, leadership and conflict management, in order to facilitate effective team functioning.
- Demonstrated capacity to conduct supervision and performance management discussions with staff and students, and to provide coaching, mentoring or peer support
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
