Turning Point
Turning Point was established in 1994 to provide leadership to the alcohol and drug field in Victoria. Turning Point is now a national treatment, research and education centre that provides leadership in the alcohol and drug, gambling and mental health sectors. Combining research with service innovation, surveillance, system enhancements, education, capacity building and specialist support, Turning Point is a recognised centre of excellence that assists services, communities and governments to respond to current and emerging issues. Turning Point is part of Eastern Health and is affiliated with Monash University.

About the role
The aim of Turning Point is to reduce AOD related harm to individuals and their families by providing integrated service response to promote recovery.
The Clinical Psychologist will provide professional clinical service through the provision of clinical assessment and treatment, psychological interventions, consultative and educational services to enhance the treatment of substance use disorder and social functioning of clients. The position will provide secondary consultation to key stakeholder services and will work collaboratively with all clinical colleagues under the direction of a Manager.
This position is part of a team responsible for the delivery of the COPE program that offers treatment to women with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and problematic alcohol and other drug use within Specialist Clinical Services (SCS) located within our Richmond based Turning Point office. Turning Point is a National Addiction Treatment Centre that provides treatment, education and research.
About you
Essential:
· Hold a Masters or Doctoral coursework qualification in Clinical Psychology that has been approved by the Psychology Board of Australia.
· Full registration or eligibility for full registration as a Psychologist by the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA).
· Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, assessment skills, treatment, and case planning in Substance Use Disorders and co-existing mental health issues and evaluating client outcomes.
· Highly developed psychotherapeutic skills and knowledge of evidenced based practice.
· Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and interpersonal with demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as an effective team member at a local and organisational level to deliver organisational outcomes.
· Demonstrated ability to promote and model collaborative and respectful staff-staff and staff-client relationships and to reflect on and resolve interpersonal tensions and utilize clinical supervision within peer settings.
· Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, utilising well developed critical analysis skills to achieve efficiency and effectiveness.
· Demonstrated ability to initiate, plan and sustain both secondary and tertiary level clinical consultations to individuals, treatment teams and key stakeholder services.
· Demonstrated commitment to supervised practice and ongoing professional development.
· Demonstrated ability to work with people with dual diagnosis.
· Demonstrated negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills.
Desirable
· Certificate IV/ Grad. Dip. in Alcohol and Drugs.
· A sound knowledge of the broad literature on the treatment of people with complex needs and substance use disorders (including those with co-existing gambling issues).
· Experience in the clinical research evaluation of treatment services.
· Knowledge of relevant legislation and knowledge of policies, plans and strategic directions of Drug Treatment Services.
· A satisfactory police check is required prior to appointment.
· A previous experience in a senior lead role.
· Research, publication and public presentation experience.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
