Turning Point

Turning Point is a national treatment, research and education centre that provides leadership in the alcohol and drug, gambling and mental health sectors in Victoria and beyond. Combining innovative research in the clinical, population health and policy fields, with service innovation, surveillance, system enhancements, capacity building and specialist support, Turning Point assists services, communities and the Victorian government to respond to current and emerging alcohol and drug and gambling issues.

 

Turning Point is part of Eastern Health, the largest public health provider in the eastern suburbs, providing a comprehensive range of high quality acute, sub-acute, palliative care, mental health, drug and alcohol, residential care and community health services.

 

The Nurse abd Midwife Support (NMS) is part of Turning Point and is a national telephone and online service that provides 24/7 anonymous telephone health and wellbeing information, support and referral service incorporating actual time and call back functionality. The service also incorporates support and referrals functionality via email. The NMS participates in service planning and development activities within the clinical specialty area and supports related projects and research.

 

About the role

The Nurse and Midwife Telephone and Online Clinician is a member of the Nurse and Midwife Support Service (NMS) and is accountable for the provision of effective assistance, support and information to nurses, midwives, graduates and students about their individual health and wellbeing concerns

 

About you 
To be successful in this role you will possess:

 

Essential

  • Bachelor of Nursing/Midwifery or other recognised equivalent formal qualification leading to condition free registration in Australia
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australian (NMBA) via AHPRA
  • Experience and expertise over a broad range of clinical areas relevant to the client cohort
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse and complex professional workforce
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and interpersonal with demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as an effective team member at a local and organisational level to deliver organisational outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, utilising well developed critical analysis skills to achieve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to support significant change practice initiative.
  • Demonstrated understanding of negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • High level communication, both written and verbal, demonstrated high level of inter personal skills with colleagues, learners, and all health care professionals.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and engagement with clinical supervision
  • Computer literacy and embracing of health technologies and informatics.
  • Exhibits behaviour which reflects the Eastern Health values.
  • Promotes and contributes to a supportive and engaged team environment.
  • Commits to providing a safe environment for all.
  • Respectful, collaborative and kind.

Desirable:

  • Post Graduate qualification or further study related to mental health, counselling or similar
  • Previous experience in telephone and online counselling


Vaccination against infectious disease is a mandatory requirement of this role.  An offer of employment is conditional on you providing evidence that you are currently vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster & Influenza, prior to commencing employment.
