Eastern Health is one of Victoria's largest public health services. As a values-led, integrated service united by our Healthier Together promise, we deliver high-quality care, support and service to a broad and diverse community across Melbourne’s east and beyond.

About Turning Point

Turning Point works collaboratively to improve gambling, alcohol and other drug policy and practice, with the aim of maximising the health and wellbeing of people and communities living with and affected by gambling, alcohol and other drug-related harms.

Turning Point's Telephone and Online Services program comprises a network of distance-based clinical services for the general community and health and welfare professionals. This includes programs in problem gambling, alcohol and co-morbidity. Services are delivered on a 24/7 basis from the Telephone and Online Services site.

About the role

As a Shift Supervisor, you will lead the day-to-day operations of Turning Point's 24/7 Telephone and Online Services, ensuring the delivery of responsive, high-quality clinical support across a range of telephone and digital platforms. You will play a key role in supporting a team of counsellors, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment while ensuring service targets, quality standards and operational requirements are consistently met.

Working within a dynamic and innovative service, you will oversee shift operations, monitor service delivery, and ensure timely responses to incoming contacts and outbound service commitments. You will also provide clinical guidance, supervision and debriefing to counsellors, supporting their professional development and wellbeing.

In addition, you will contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives, helping to enhance service delivery, strengthen clinical practice and support the continued growth and success of Telephone and Online Services.

What you’ll bring

  • A degree-level qualification in a relevant health and allied discipline, combined with experience in the alcohol and drug, gambling or related sector
  • Experience in clinical supervision, debriefing and the coordination of service delivery and managing staff, including reporting on outcomes
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and decision-making within a counselling setting in a supervisory capacity, including experience in assessing and managing risk
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of contemporary brief interventions in the alcohol, other drug and gambling fields or a related discipline
  • Experience evaluating service standards and counselling practice, including reviewing policy and procedure documents
  • Highly developed communication, teamwork and leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
