As part of Eastern Health, Turning Point works collaboratively to improve gambling, alcohol and other drug policy and practice with the aim of maximising the health and wellbeing of people and communities living with and affected by gambling, alcohol and other drug related harms. We are seeking experienced practitioners who are interested in applying their skills in our peer to peer online communities as our community members seek to change and recover from issues related to alcohol, other substances and gambling.
About the role
Turning Point Telephone and Online Services program compromises a network of distance – based clinical services for the general community, and health and welfare professionals. This includes programs in problem gambling, alcohol and co-morbidity. Services are delivered on a 24/7 basis from the Telephone and Online Services site.
Key service types include:
- Counselling Online an alcohol and other drug counselling and support program
- Gambling Help Online a gambling counselling and support program
- Alcohol and other drug telephone helpline programs across multiple states and territories
- Gambling telephone helpline programs across multiple state and territories
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Community Builders are responsible for the provision of high quality forum moderation, content creation, community building activities, forum member support across the internal online community services.
Moderation and community building is provided through a change focussed, recovery orientated harm minimization framework.
About you
Eligibility for membership with one of the following:
- Provisional or full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, or
- Full, graduate or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or
- Membership with Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) in the family/relationship therapy of general counselling/psychotherapy sections
- Demonstrated skills and experience in online services specific to community building, forum moderation and content creation and editing
- Computer literacy with competence in the use of electronic records databases, Microsoft suite of programs, and online community platforms/environments
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Capacity to work with people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and disadvantaged populations
- Capacity to work competently within a multidisciplinary team under supervision
- Ability to maintain professional standards and organisational practices
- Commitment to clinical supervision, professional development and ongoing self-improvement
- Accurate and timely record keeping and reporting on progress
- Current Working With Children Check
- This position requires the capacity to work a variety of shifts across a 24/7 roster.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
