About the role

We are seeking Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists to join Eastern Health's Mental Health and Wellbeing Program. Two opportunities are available in our Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health Service (ICYMHS):

  • Permanent Part Time position (0.7 EFT) based at the Box Hill Community Team
  • Part-time (0.6-0.7 EFT) Leave Cover position based largely in our Intensive Mobile Treatment Team

 

As a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, you will provide expert clinical leadership and high-quality psychiatric care as part of a collaborative Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health Service (ICYMHS) multidisciplinary team. Working closely with ICYMHS Team Leaders, you will deliver specialist infant, child and youth mental health services, supporting best-practice patient care while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement. The role includes participation in the on-call roster, providing expert clinical leadership and psychiatric support after hours.

 

You will contribute to the strategic, clinical, operational and service development priorities of the program, helping to shape and enhance the delivery of mental health services for infants, children, young people and their families. The role also offers opportunities to contribute to service planning, quality improvement initiatives, education, research and service evaluation activities.

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner with specialist registration in Psychiatry
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or an equivalent specialist qualification.
  • Certificate of advanced training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, or equivalent 
  • Demonstrated understanding of Recovery Oriented Practice in the field of mental health
  • Sound knowledge of relevant mental health legislation and statutory requirements
  • Demonstrated experience and competence in teaching, education in clinical psychiatry and supervision of clinical practice.
  • A current and valid driver's licence.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and active participation in relevant continuing professional development (CPD) programs, particularly in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role, and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up-to-date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up-to-date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
