Eastern Health is one of Victoria's largest public health services. As a values-led, integrated service united by our Healthier Together promise, we deliver high-quality care, support and service to a broad and diverse community across Melbourne’s east and beyond.

You will be part of an experienced multidisciplinary team providing timely assessment, risk management, treatment and care planning for people experiencing acute mental health concerns. With exposure to a broad range of clinical presentations and service settings, this role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your acute mental health assessment and decision-making skills while making a meaningful difference to consumers and their families.

These positions are primarily based at Ringwood, with opportunities to work across Eastern Health satellite sites, including Angliss, Box Hill and Maroondah Hospitals, depending on the role and service requirements.

  • Working across the integrated Adult Access Service, which includes CATT, Emergency Department Response, and Psychiatric Telephone Triage. Adult Access provides assessment and support to consumers across the lifespan 24/7

  • Crisis assessment and treatment within the community (CATT), including assessment and management of newly referred consumers, early discharge support, and after-hours crisis intervention and treatment.

  • Providing comprehensive mental health and risk assessments across community, Emergency Department and telephone-based settings, including crisis intervention, safety planning and development of appropriate treatment plans.

  • Triaging and responding to referrals, including determining eligibility, prioritising clinical needs and facilitating timely and appropriate mental health interventions

  • Working collaboratively with consumers, families and other services to coordinate care across specialist mental health, AOD, primary health and community services.

  • Providing specialist mental health assessment and advice to key service partners, including Victoria Police, Emergency Department staff, GPs and other agencies

What you’ll bring

  • Current relevant qualifications and professional registration as an Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Psychologist or Registered Nurse, as applicable to your discipline.

  • Experience working in mental health, with demonstrated skills in mental health assessment, risk assessment and the management of consumers experiencing acute or complex mental health concerns.

  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic clinical environment.

  • Ability to assess, prioritise and respond to competing clinical demands and provide timely, person-centred care.

  • A commitment to recovery-oriented practice, least-restrictive care and ongoing professional development.
