About the Role
A vacancy exists in the busy Day Procedure Area at Maroondah Hospital for an efficient hard working admissions clerk. The Day Procedure Area caters for medical, surgical and endoscopy day patients. All patients that are directly admitted to the hospital are admitted through the Day Procedure Area. This position involves a broad range of duties including creating Hospital Admissions, adding patients to the waiting list, booking appointments, patient reception, telephone enquiries, record management and data entry and provides clerical support to the nursing and medical staff. Experience in Patient Management systems and medical terminology is essential.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Excellent communication interpersonal / telephone skills
- Ability to understand spoken and written English and to effectively communicate with others verbally and in writing
- Demonstrated understanding of customer service of internal and external customers and commitment to effectively meeting their needs in a helpful and professional manner.
- Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload within a team with the flexibility in moving between tasks at short notice.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to prioritise workload and work under pressure, and without supervision
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement
- Flexible and creative problem-solving skills
- Be prepared and willing to work the shifts as rostered
- Thorough working knowledge of IPM/CPF/EMR
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
