About the role
IPU1 is an adult acute unit-one of 4 adult units within Eastern Health. IPU1 has 25 beds, 20 LDU and 5 ICA. The unit provides service to people aged 18-64 years of age who live in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and are experiencing severe and acute symptoms of mental illness. The units are staffed 24/7 by nursing and medical staff and are supported by consultant psychiatrists, medcial staff, allied health, carer and consumer support workers, and administration personnel.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Understanding and commitment to professional standards, codes and behaviours as legislated through the Health Act, Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia, other relevant professional bodies and Eastern Health Policy, Standards and Practice Guidelines.
- A level of proficiency in a relevant clinical/service field-along with suitable education-post graduate in mental health nursing.
- Current registration with AHPRA.
- Awareness and understanding of National Standards and Accreditation Standards.
- High level communication, written and verbal, with demonstrated high level of inter personal skills with consumers, their families and all health care professionals.
- Exhibit behaviour which reflects the Eastern health values and NMBA codes and standards.
- Promote and contribute to a supportive and engaged team environment.
- Committed to providing a safe environment for all.
- Experience in facilitating change to work practices in a health care organisation.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
