About the role
Working from a Family-Carer lived experience perspective, Carer Consultants have substantial input to a range of service improvement projects and initiatives to aimed at developing, embedding and enhancing family/carer support and participation across Eastern Health’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Service.
This is a primarily project-based role that requires independent and autonomous work practices to identify systemic improvement and innovation opportunities, make recommendations for change, and take a lead role in delivering those changes. Carer Consultants also draw on their senior lived experience skills to provide input to the review and development of policy, practice guidelines and scope of practice relating to family/carer support and engagement.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Lived experience as a family member, carer or supporter of someone who has experienced mental health challenges and has used public mental health services
- An in-depth understanding of the Family-Carer movement and a strong drive to improve family and carer experiences with mental health services
- Demonstrated ability work systemically, drawing on your lived experience expertise to inform organisational policies and lead improvement projects that will benefit carers and families
- Excellent communication, project management and organisational skills
