About the role

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) to work within our Acute Adult Inpatient Ward to provide high level clinical consultation and advice in collaboration with nursing and clinical staff within the inpatient unit.

 

This Role includes:  

 

  • Working as a senior mental health nurse to provide clinical expertise for the ongoing recovery-orientated collaboration with consumers, their significant others and the nursing and medical leadership.
  • The CNC working with the Clinical Nurse Manager (where applicable), Lead Consultant, Nurse Unit Manager to ensure consumers presenting with complex presentations have a comprehensive, collaborative inpatient recovery plan.
  • The CNC role is tasked with enhancing the clinical capability of the inpatient nursing team in accordance with the Eastern Health Mental Health Improvement and Innovation plan and in the context of audit results and achievements relating to clinical practices.
  • The CNC role requires strong clinical leadership skills for the implementation of specific Department of Health and Human Service (the department) initiatives and frameworks that are being led by the Office of the Chief Mental Health Nurse such as Safewards, Intensive Care Area Framework, Clinical Supervision and Reducing Restrictive Interventions.

About you  

 

  • You are enthusiastic, passionate, and love learning and supporting others. You possess:  
  • Current, condition-free registration with AHPRA  
  • Have Post Graduate qualifications in mental health nursing
  • Minimum 5 years experience in acute inpatient mental health nursing
  • Highly developed interpersonal and previous leadership experience or experience in a senior nursing role
  • A strong commitment to high quality care  
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team  
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
