About the role
The Clinical Midwife/Nurse Consultant (CM/NC) – Perinatal Emotional Health Service (PEHS) is a senior clinical role within the Infant Child and Youth Mental Health Service program. The position focuses on enhancing the early identification, referral, and treatment of women experiencing perinatal mental health issues. The CM/NC contributes to improved outcomes for women, their infants, partners, and families by developing and supporting safe, responsive, and integrated care pathways between hospital, primary/community health, and mental health services.
This role aims to strengthen the capability of the broader health workforce to recognise, manage, and refer women experiencing emotional or mental health challenges during the perinatal period.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA)
- Current registration with AHPRA
- Demonstrated expertise in perinatal mental health, with substantial experience in maternity or mental health care settings
- Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
