About the role

We are seeking Consultant Psychiatrists to join Eastern Health's Mental Health and Wellbeing Program. Multiple opportunities are available across our Adult Mental Health Services, including:

 

  • Permanent Full Time or Part Time positions within our Adult Inpatient Services and Ferntree Gully Community Care Team (CCT)
  • Part-time Leave Cover position based in our Adult Access Stream

 

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide clinical leadership and high-quality psychiatric care within a multidisciplinary team environment. You will be responsible for the delivery of specialist clinical services to consumers, supporting best-practice patient care while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement. The role includes participation in the on-call and recall roster, ensuring the provision of expert clinical leadership and psychiatric support after hours.

 

Working in partnership with the Clinical Director, and where applicable the Lead Consultant and Service Manager, you will contribute to the strategic, clinical, operational and service development priorities of the program. The role also offers opportunities to contribute to service planning, quality improvement, education, research and service evaluation initiatives.

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Medical Practitioner with specialist registration in Psychiatry
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or an equivalent specialist qualification.  (Registrars who have completed all RANZCP exams and assessment requirements are welcome to apply)
  • Demonstrated understanding of Recovery Oriented Practice in the field of mental health 
  • Sound knowledge of relevant mental health legislation and statutory requirements 
  • Demonstrated experience and competence in teaching, education in clinical psychiatry and supervision of clinical practice. 
  • A current and valid driver's licence.
  • Certification and demonstrated competency in Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and active participation in relevant continuing professional development (CPD) programs, particularly in General Psychiatry.

 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role, and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up-to-date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up-to-date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
