About the role
The Adult Mental Health Program is looking for the right person to support the building of capacity within the Mental Health and Wellbeing Program in assisting consumers with highly complex challenges associated with co-morbid mental health and forensic issues.
Whilst this role will focus on supporting mental health services located within Outer East area (Ringwood and surrounds), there will also be capacity to support equivalent services located within the Central East area (Box Hill and surrounds).
This role will involve the provision of primary and secondary consultation, service development and training and education on contemporary practice regarding risk assessment and the management of complex forensic issues. This position will have ongoing support and training from Forensicare to assist with the development of service delivery development initiatives in supporting this consumer group.
The successful applicants will have significant experience in clinical service delivery in mental health settings and in the provision of recovery focused care.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- 10 years’ experience as a qualified/fully registered Occupational Therapist/Psychologist/Social Worker/Registered Nurse in mental health including at least 2 years’ experience as a senior clinician.
- Possess sound working knowledge of evidenced based models of assessment and management of risk relevant to forensic mental health and commitment to working with and delivering high quality outcomes for high-risk clients and those with a history of offending.
- Extensive experience and skills in assessment and management of people with serious mental illness and co-occurring complex issues including experience and skill in working with consumers with substance use and addiction.
- Demonstrated experience and skill working with consumers presenting with challenging behaviours.
- Experience in providing primary assessment and secondary consultation for individuals and teams around complex and contentious practice dilemmas.
- Current registration with AHPRA or relevant body
- Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- The ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
