About the role

 

 

The Access Team at ICYMHS (Infant, Child & Youth Mental Health Services) provides the entry point into the service for children, young people, and their families who are generally contacting mental health services for the first time. In addition, we are now developing the role of the team to include a new Short Term Assessment & Treatment Clinic.

 

 

We have an exciting position for a Grade 1 Social Worker/Occupational Therapist to join our skilled and enthusiastic team, located in our new purpose-built clinic in Ringwood, right next to Eastland and public transport options.  This is a fantastic opportunity to commence a career in Infant, Child & Youth Mental Health.

 

 

The Grade 1 role includes:

 

 

  • Telephone and face-to-face assessments of young people presenting with acute and/or complex mental health concerns
  • Managing and prioritising referrals for the CYMHS community and specialist teams in consultation with senior staff
  • Opportunity to provide short term intervention to young people
  • Opportunity to participate in primary and secondary consultations to other service providers in conjunction with senior staff

 

 

About you

 

 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

 

 

  • Current Occupational Therapy registration with AHPRA; for Social Work, eligibility for membership of AASW 
  • A strong interest in working with children or young people with mental illness.
  • A strong commitment to high quality care 
  • The ability to work as partof a diverse team 
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills 

 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
