About the role 

 

The Emergency Department at Maroondah Hospital has an opportunity for an experienced Emergency Nurse to join our team on a permanent part-time basis to pursue their endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner (Emergency).

In joining the Maroondah Hospital Emergency team, you will be working alongside a highly dedicated and supportive multidisciplinary team who are committed to Patient's First. As a Nurse Practitioner Candidate, you will receive multidisciplinary support from Medical, Nurse Practitioner and Senior Nursing staff throughout your candidacy and beyond. Our intent will be to invest in you, knowing we are investing in our future. Therefore, this role is offered on a permanent basis (subject to your successful endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner).

 

 

About Maroondah ED 

 

The Emergency Department at Maroondah Hospital cares for approximately 50,000 patients per year. Presentations include critically unwell patients requiring immediate stabilization plus a significant proportion of paediatric presentations. Department resources included 35 treatment spaces, including 3 resuscitation bays, dedicated paediatric and fast track areas, and a combined paediatric/adult Short Stay Unit.

 

 

About you 

 

To be successful in this role you will possess: 

  • Current registration with AHPRA 
  • Current Postgraduate Qualifications in Emergency Nursing, plus experience equivalent to three years full-time as a Critical Care Registered Nurse within an Emergency Department.
  • Eligible to enroll into the Master of Advanced Nursing Practice (Emergency Nursing/Nurse Practitioner) (Pathway A) or, enrolled in equivalent units to fulfil AHPRA requirements for endorsement (Pathway B) if you already uphold a Master of Nursing (or equivalent) with emergency specialty.
  • Ability to prove advanced clinical hours, to AHPRAs requirements for endorsement. 
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills. 
  • A strong commitment to high quality care. 
  • Have a strong background in Emergency Nursing in public health. 
  • A strong commitment to high quality care within a multi-disciplinary team-based approach. 
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills. 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
