Occupational Therapist Grade 3 – Mental Health 

 

  • Temporary full-time | 5 weeks annual leave + monthly day off included

About the role

Maroondah Community Care Unit (CCU) is a mental health rehabilitation unit part of the Adult and Older Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing Program. It is a 20-bed community based 24/7 residential facility that features a highly structured and supported physical environment. The CCU operates under a recovery-orientated model of care, providing a collaborative and consumer centered treatment approach to assist consumers in reaching their individual recovery goals and maintain wellness.

 

As the Occupational Therapist, you will work collaboratively with consumers, carers, families, and multidisciplinary service providers to deliver high-quality, recovery-focused care. You will provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, interventions, and consultation services that support individuals in achieving their recovery goals and enhancing their independence.

 

In this role, you will deliver person-centred care through a combination of individual and group interventions, case management, discharge planning, and education for consumers and their support networks. You will also liaise closely with internal and external services to ensure coordinated care and positive outcomes for consumers transitioning through their recovery journey.

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia, Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency.
  • A minimum of 12 months’ experience as a registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Sound theoretical knowledge and demonstrated ability in the delivery and evaluation of a range of high-quality occupational therapy services to consumers, families and carers within a mental health setting.
  • Understanding of evidenced based practice and models of occupational therapy, related occupational assessment and their application in clinical practice.
  • Experience and understanding of NDIS for people with psychosocial disability.
  • Knowledge of the mental health sector, including roles and workings of mental health teams and relevant community resources and services to support people experiencing mental health challenges.
  • A full driver’s licence.

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role, and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
