About the role 

Maroondah 3 East is a dynamic and fast‑paced acute care environment specialising in General Surgery, Colorectal, Plastics, Breast, and Endocrine surgery. We deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based postoperative care to a diverse patient cohort, supporting patients through both elective and emergency surgical pathways.  

Our team prides itself on strong multidisciplinary collaboration, a supportive learning culture, and a commitment to patient‑centered care. With a high turnover and varied case mix, our ward offers an exciting opportunity for nurses who thrive in busy clinical environments and enjoy developing broad surgical expertise.  

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. In this role, you will:  

  • Provide safe and comprehensive postoperative nursing care across general, colorectal, plastics, breast and endocrine surgical specialties  
  • Deliver thorough assessments, clinical decision-making, and timely interventions in a fast-paced acute setting 
  • Support patient recovery through effective pain management, wound care, drains management, education, and discharge planning 
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes 
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive and supportive ward culture while upholding high standards of clinical practice 
  • Develop and extend your skills with exposure to a wide variety of surgical presentations and clinical complexities  

  

About you  

This role is ideal for nurses who are adaptable, proactive, and passionate about surgical nursing. Whether you are an experienced surgical nurse or looking to expand your clinical skills in a high‑acuity environment, you will be supported by an experienced leadership team and strong professional development opportunities.  

To be successful in this role you will possess: 

  • Current General Nursing registration with AHPRA 
  • Previous experience in a surgical area
  • Post Graduate qualifications in relevant field (desirable, not essential)
  • Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
  • A strong commitment to high quality care
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
