About the role
2 South is a busy Day Surgery and Endoscopy Unit. We provide services for day of admission, transit lounge, day surgery recovery (adult & paediatric), endoscopy procedures and endoscopy recovery. We are looking for a passionate and experienced registered nurse to join our cohesive team.
We support adult surgical-day cases, including breast, general surgery, urology, plastics and orthopaedics for both elective and emergency patients. We also care for paediatric patients who predominantly undergo plastic or orthopaedic elective and emergency surgery. Furthermore, we support endoscopy patients undergoing gastroscopies, colonoscopies & bronchoscopies.
Whilst there is no night shift on our roster, our nurses are required to provide an on-call endoscopy service to Maroondah Hospital after hours and over the weekends, and this is rotated through all staff. We are a friendly and highly motivated team, and you will be well supported in your new role.
About you
Are you a dedicated, empathetic and adaptable registered nurse looking for your next challenge? Are you interested in and understand the complex and varied patient presentations cared for in the day procedure unit.
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Current Registration with AHPRA
- Post Graduate qualifications in peri-op is an advantage
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- A strong commitment to high quality care
- Ability to work as part of a diverse team
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent decision-making capability
- Motivated to learn and improve skills
- Willing to mentor and develop graduates
- Previous endoscopy experience is an advantage
- Previous ALS/ recovery skills is an advantage
