About the role

 

 

The Brief Intervention Teams, which incorporates Hospital Outreach Post Suicidal Engagement (HOPE) stream, provides tailored, intensive clinical and psycho-social support. We endeavour to support people who might be experiencing mental ill health, thoughts of suicide, attempted suicide or psychological distress. We aim to promote connection in life and prevent recurrent suicide attempts or death from suicide. Support is underpinned by the framework for recovery oriented practice, and is provided to families, friends and carers to strengthen their ability to provide informal supports to the person they care for. 

 

The Senior Psychosocial Engagement (PE) Lead is the leader of PE Workers who are key providers of information and linkages to community service systems for the people we see.  

 

 

About you  

 

 

To be successful in this role you will possess: 

 

 

Essential: 

 

 

  • A tertiary mental health or related qualification (Nursing, Social Work, Welfare, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Disability Services, Community Development, or related discipline) 
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in leading and supporting other staff 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people who have one or more of the following issues attempted suicide, psychological distress, dual diagnosis, mental ill health, family violence. 
  • Ability to participate in policy and service development within the program and in continuous quality improvement through ongoing evaluation of services delivered to clients.   
  • A working knowledge of community-based and government organisations 
  • A strong commitment to high quality care 
  • The ability to work as part of a diverse team 
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills 
  • Ability to work extended hours when rostered, as required. 
  • A current Victorian driver’s licence is essential 
  • A satisfactory police check is required prior to appointment 

 

 

Desirable: 

 

 

  • Experience with, or completion of associated studies relating to Solution-Focused Brief therapy, Collaborative Recovery Model and family inclusive practice techniques 
  • Computer literacy skills – with demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications
