About the role 

We are looking for a Grade 3 Senior Speech Pathologist to join the Speech Pathology, Acute Medicine / Allied Health teams at Eastern Health.  The successful applicant will provide daily leadership to the Speech Pathology team at Maroondah Hospital, as well as delivering clinical care primarily to the medical wards and ICU, but will capably flex across the hospital as indicated.  You require expertise in assessment, rehabilitation & complex discharge planning in the acute hospital environment, as well as in the provision of effective clinical supervision and leading quality improvements within your work teams. 

Leadership and highly developed problem solving & communication skills are essential as this role will be an active contributor to the Medicine and Critical Care teams and Allied Health leadership teams to work collaboratively to improve patient and team outcomes at this level.  To support you to be your best in this role, Eastern Health offers monthly clinical supervision and access to research, quality improvement and leadership training opportunities.

 

About you 

To be successful in this role you should possess: 

  • Approved Degree in Speech Pathology
  • Eligibility for practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience. Extensive clinical experience and recognised specialist current clinical knowledge and skills in speech pathology in acute and ICU settings.
  • Extensive experience and competency with instrumental swallow assessments
  • A demonstrated capacity to inspire, influence, lead and motivate staff and to contribute to a positive and compassionate organisational culture.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, leadership and conflict management, in order to facilitate effective team functioning.
  • Demonstrated high level analytical thinking and investigative skills with demonstrated application to clinical and nonclinical areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high level teaching, training and supervision to staff and students.
 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
