About the role
The Youth Justice Mental Health Clinician position is a specialist senior clinical role, and works to systemically form collaborative partnerships across a number of complex service sectors including: Alcohol and Other Drugs Services, Youth Justice, Forensic care, Child Protection, Homelessness services, Koori Services and Educational and Vocational providers.
The YJMH clinician works across two large and quite different service systems. The role will be situated within Eastern Health ICYMHS. It is an expectation of this dual role that it will produce better health outcomes for this vulnerable and high-risk group of young people. It is an expectation that it will also promote good working relationships and a greater understanding between the two agencies.
Although you will be co-located at both Youth Justice and Eastern Health ICYMHS with a multi-disciplinary team, given the nature of the position travel between Youth Justice Locations and across the Eastern Metropolitan Region will be required.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Allied health with five years post graduate experience in mental health.
- Current OT, Clinical Psychology or Nursing registration with AHPRA. Social work eligibility for membership with AASW.
- Minimum of four years post qualification clinical experience in child and youth mental health and experience in the forensic sector.
- A strong commitment to high quality care.
- Skills in primary and secondary consultation.
- High level communication, written and verbal, with demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills and effective management of key stakeholder relationships.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
