Eastern Health
Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.
Our Employee Value Proposition is “Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts”.
This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.
About the role
Eastern Health is seeking an experienced and collaborative midwife to join our leadership team as a Clinical Midwife Consultant (CMC) with Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) at Angliss Hospital.
Angliss is a level 4 Maternity Service with a level 3 Special Care Nursery capability supporting up to 2,400 women to birth each year. The service works closely with our Maternity partners at Box Hill and in clinics at Yarra Ranges. Eastern Health provides opportunities for endorsed midwives to utilise these qualifications within a continuity of care model such as MGP. Water birth, perineal suturing and midwifery ultrasound credentialling are also supported for suitably qualified midwives.
The Clinical Midwife Consultant role provides clinical expertise and leadership within the Women and Children program with a particular connection to the Midwifery Group Practice team. The CMC contributes to and promotes clinical midwifery service delivery with a focus on safety culture, collaboration, consumer experience and shared decision making. Key components of the role include optimising clinical capability of the MGP midwives to enable them to work to their full scope of practice, including support for endorsed midwives authorised to work in this capacity at Eastern Health; engaging the team in reflective practice processes and improvement opportunities; supporting culturally safe care for First Nations families and contributing to enhanced service delivery within the broader Maternity Service at Angliss Hospital.
This CMC role works in partnership with the Ambulatory Services Manager at Angliss and the MGP CMC at Box Hill Hospital. Close collaboration with our Obstetric and Paediatric medical teams and Allied Health partners is also important. As part of the leadership team, the CMC role engages with medical, nursing and midwifery leaders across the Women and Children program.
