About the role

 

 

Join our team as a Lactation Consultant on a part time fixed term basis to work at Angliss Hospital.

 

 

The successful applicant is responsible for providing high quality evidence-based breastfeeding and lactation support, education and care to mothers and families during pregnancy and the postnatal period. The Lactation Consultant will be required to respond to referrals made to Lactation Services.

 

 

The role also involves providing staff education through face- to- face education and involvement in ongoing quality improvement projects.

Part time Fixed term opportunity for 3 months until January 2026.

 

 

About you 

 

 

You are a dynamic and experienced Lactation Consultant who has a strong commitment to exceptional care and excellence in supporting women to achieve optimal outcomes that align with their lactation goals. You will work with the team in all aspects of the service delivery, including pregnancy and post-natal care, and will make individual assessments, provide support, education and plan care.

 

 

You have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and have prior experience with providing lactation education to parents, their supports and colleagues, including members of the multi-disciplinary team employed across sites.

 

 

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

 

 

  • Experience in the area of lactation with demonstrated ability to work with a diverse and complex professional workforce.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and interpersonal with demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as an effective team member at a local and organisational level to deliver organisational outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, utilising well developed critical analysis skills to achieve efficiency and effectiveness
  • Demonstrated ability to lead significant change practice initiatives · Demonstrated negotiation, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated record of achievement of quality service delivery
  • Membership of relevant specialty Professional Association
  • Research, publication and public presentation experience. 
  • High level communication, both written and verbal, demonstrated high level of inter personal skills with consumers, their families and all health care professionals.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Computer literacy and embracing of health technologies and informatics.

 

 

As a minimum you can demonstrate:

 

  • Relevant qualifications including IBLCE Qualification
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australian (NMBA) via AHPRA

 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
