About the role
An exciting leadership opportunity exists for an experienced and progressive midwifery leader to join Eastern Health as the Midwifery Manager for 3 East Postnatal Ward at Angliss Hospital and Extended Postnatal Care (EPC) Services across Angliss and Box Hill Hospitals.
This diverse leadership role encompasses the management of a 16-bed postnatal inpatient unit at Angliss Hospital, alongside oversight of Extended Postnatal Care services across both maternity sites. The Midwifery Manager is responsible for providing strong clinical and operational leadership, ensuring timely and effective patient flow throughout the postnatal journey, from inpatient care through to discharge home with ongoing midwifery support.
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Operations, Women's and Children’s, Angliss Hospital, the Midwifery Manager provides professional, operational and clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, woman-centered care across postnatal inpatient and extended postnatal care services. The role is pivotal in fostering a positive workplace culture, supporting staff development, achieving service objectives and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
The successful applicant will lead a multidisciplinary team of midwives and support staff, ensuring excellence in care delivery while maintaining efficient management of workforce, budgets, quality and safety outcomes.
This position involves:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of 3 East Postnatal Ward at Angliss and Extended Postnatal Care Services across Angliss and Box Hill Hospitals, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, woman and family-centered care.
- Coordinate patient flow across inpatient and extended postnatal care services, ensuring timely admissions, discharges and seamless transitions of care from hospital to home.
- Provide leadership and support to a multidisciplinary team of midwives and support staff, fostering a positive workplace culture focused on collaboration, professional development and clinical excellence.
- Drive quality and safety initiatives by monitoring clinical outcomes, managing risks, and leading continuous improvement activities that enhance the experience of women, babies and families.
- Manage workforce, resources and service performance, including staffing, recruitment, budget oversight and service planning, to ensure the efficient delivery of maternity services across both sites.
