About the role 

 

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team within the Chronic Pain Clinic. This role will be integral to providing specialised clinical/health psychology assessment and therapeutic intervention for adults experiencing persistent pain. You will do this by exploring the factors contributing to a client's individualised pain condition and providing education and advice around self-management strategies to improve their quality of life. This service focusses on evidence-based assessment and treatment and delivers this through a range of one-to-one and group-based sessions. To learn more about our service- please see our website. 

 

 

You will join a team of highly specialised and passionate professionals- including two other Psychologists, as well as Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Pharmacists, Allied Health Assistants, Registrars and Pain Medicine Specialists.

About you  

 

 

To be successful in this role you will:

 

 

  • Hold a Masters or Doctoral coursework qualification in Clinical/Health Psychology that has been approved by the Psychology Board of Australia. 
  • Have full registration or eligibility for full registration as a Psychologist by the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA). 
  • Hold endorsement, be eligible for endorsement or eligible to work towards endorsement with AHPRA as a Clinical/Health Psychologist. 
  • Demonstrated experience with adult persistent pain conditions characterised by high complexity, severity and co-occurring conditions. 
  • Proven ability and commitment to work collaboratively with consumers, significant carers, members of multidisciplinary teams and external agencies. 
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct high quality and sophisticated psychological assessments and formulate and implement appropriate evidence-based interventions that are consistent with best practice in psychology.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintain up to date clinical and management knowledge by regular attendance at conferences, workshops or other professional development activities. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to reflective practice. 
  • For Grade 3 applicants - be an approved PBA Supervisor for higher degree placement and for the registrar program and have five years’ experience after attainment of post graduate qualification 

 

 

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role, and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
