Eastern Health

Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.

Our Employee Value Proposition is “Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts”.

This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.

About the role

This position forms part of the Business Services Centre (BSC) reception team at Angliss Hospital, Eastern Health. Following the completion of the Angliss capital development, the new Main Reception at Angliss Hospital will serve as the primary point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, providing a welcoming, professional first impression of the hospital and supporting the safe and efficient flow of people across the campus.

The Business Service Centre/Reception Officer is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service and administrative support in a fast-paced hospital environment. Key duties include greeting and directing patients and visitors, managing incoming calls and enquiries, supporting patient admissions and registration processes, and coordinating a range of business service functions including paging, access systems, and facilities support.

This role sits within a centralised reception workforce managed by Business Services, which oversees reception operations across Eastern Health's acute sites including Box Hill and Maroondah Hospitals. You will work as part of a collaborative team under the leadership of Business Services, contributing to a consistent and high-quality customer experience across the organisation.

We are looking for individuals who bring warmth, professionalism, and calm under pressure, with the ability to manage competing demands while maintaining a patient-centred approach at all times.

About you

You are an experienced receptionist or customer service professional who thrives in a busy, people-facing environment. You bring a genuine commitment to delivering exceptional service and understand the importance of making every patient, visitor, and staff member feel welcomed and supported from the moment they arrive.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in a reception, administration, or customer service role, ideally within a healthcare or similarly complex environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of people including patients, carers, clinical staff, and the broader public
  • The ability to remain calm, professional, and solutions-focused in a high-volume, fast-paced setting
  • Intermediate to advanced computer literacy, with experience navigating multiple systems simultaneously
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise competing demands
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach with a willingness to support colleagues and contribute to a positive workplace culture

Experience in a hospital or health service setting is highly desirable, as is familiarity with patient administration or health information systems. Knowledge of or experience with business service functions such as paging, access control, or facilities coordination will also be well regarded.

You will share Eastern Health's commitment to providing safe, person-centred care and services, and will uphold the organisation's values in every interaction.

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up to date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
