About the role
We are seeking an organised, compassionate, and motivated Ward Clerk to join our dedicated Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. This is a vital front-line administrative position where you will support the smooth day-to-day running of the ICU, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment for patients, their families, and clinical staff.
You will be the first point of contact for the unit—responsible for a wide range of clerical duties, including maintaining accurate patient records, greeting and assisting visitors, coordinating communications, and providing essential administrative support to the multidisciplinary team.

About you
Angliss Hospital ICU are seeking a highly organised, great communicator who can work well within a team environment. They should be able to provide empathetic support to both staff and families in a complex and emotionally sensitive environment.

- Teamwork and Collaboration: A supportive team player, able to work effectively with healthcare professionals and administrative colleagues.
- Computer Proficiency: Confident using basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Problem-Solving Skills: Able to resolve routine administrative challenges and respond appropriately to patient or staff queries.
- Adaptability: Open to change, with the ability to adjust to new procedures or shifting workflows.
- Empathy and Compassion: A caring approach, recognising the needs and emotions of patients and their loved ones.
Desirable:
- Advanced Computer Skills: Experience with Microsoft 365, Teams, and electronic health record (EHR) or hospital information systems (HIS).
- Medical Terminology Knowledge: Understanding of medical terms and procedures to assist in accurate record-keeping and communication.
- Hospital Clerical Experience: Previous experience in a similar hospital or healthcare administrative role.
About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Computer competent; with excellent working knowledge of Patient Management Systems,
- Microsoft Word and Excel
- Advanced telephone skills and clerical skills
- Ability to provide quality customer service in a friendly and professional manner
- Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated organisation and time management skills
- To have an interest in working in a patient centred environment
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to work within deadlines
- High degree of flexibility.
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.
